Top 5 Nostalgic Ships

This topic was so much fun to do! I loved looking back at some of the pairings I first started shipping as a budding fangirl. Not all of my nostalgic ships/couples are from books – I’ve got a few from movies/tv shows, as well.

1) Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter series

drarry

Oh, the nostalgia is strong with this one. The Drarry ship had a lot of firsts for me: my first time shipping a slash pairing, my first time seeking out fanfiction/fan art of the ship, etc. It was this pairing that also made me aware of what shipping actually was. I remember I was hoping Drarry would become canon in Deathly Hallows – that Draco would at last reveal his secret feelings for Harry and the two would share a passionate kiss. Sadly, this didn’t happen – although the moment when Harry saves Draco from the fire in the Room of Requirement made my fangirl heart flutter a little.

2) Shuichi/Yuki from Gravitation

I discovered yaoi anime (and then manga) in my late teens and oh man, I was instantly addicted. The first one I watched was Junjo Romantica and then I discovered Gravitation. The pairing of bouncy, romantic Shuichi and the cold, stand-offish Yuki was like catnip for me. I remember there were some really cute kissing scenes in the anime – and then I went on to discover some appallingly naughty Shuichi/Yuki fanfiction. I can still remember some of the scenes to this day.

3) Chandler/Monica from Friends

If you grew up during the ’90s, it’s pretty much impossible that you didn’t watch at least one episode of Friends. I loved when Chandler and Monica finally got together and them trying to keep their relationship a secret from their friends made for some hilarious hijinks and some classic episodes. (I also love Ross and Rachel.)

4) Belle/Beast from Beauty and the Beast

One of my favorite Disney movies of all time, I loved the sweet romance between Belle and the Beast – and, all these years later, still do.

5) Buffy/Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I shipped Buffy/Spike from the moment Spike first appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer – and when they finally kissed for the first time, it legitimately was one of the highlights of my teen years. Unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last but hot damn, they had some incredible sex scenes.
