Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Characters I’d Trade Places With

1) Lia from The Dream Thief

the dream thief

Lia is a Drakon, a supernatural being who can transform into a dragon. Seeing as that is the most awesome power I can imagine having, I’d trade places with her in a heartbeat. Plus, she ends up with Zane, a super sexy mortal man who is completely, fiercely in love with her.

2) Feyre from A Court of Thorns and Roses series

Okay, we all know Feyre had to go through a lot to get her happily-ever-after but I for one think it would be worth it if it meant I got to be an immortal who can summon her own wings AND be the mate of Rhysand, everyone’s favorite High Lord.

3) Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series

hermione

I feel like I’m already kind of the muggle version of Hermione – I love to read, have a super nerdy passion when it comes to learning, and I’m hella awkward when it comes to boys/romance. But if I could actually trade places with her, that means I could go to actually attend Hogwarts for real – and not just in my imagination.

4) Carrie White from Carrie

carrie

This choice might seem a little weird – who in their right mind would want to trade places with a girl who has been tormented and bullied by her classmates and her domineering mother for almost her entire life? Well, I certainly don’t envy Carrie for that aspect of her life. No – it’s her power I want. One of the most satisfying scenes in the book is when Carrie lets rip at the prom just after the most heinous prank has been pulled on her and she finally gets sweet, sweet revenge against all those who have wronged her. Her telekinetic abilities appeal to my darker side – I would love to have the ability to fight back against anyone who crossed me – in other words, ‘show them a thing or two.’

5) Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice

pride and prejudice

I do love a character who is cold and stand-offish to most other people but becomes soft and caring around their love interest – like Mr. Darcy is with Elizabeth Bennett. I’d love to be on the receiving end of his affections.

6) Pippa from One Good Earl Deserves a Lover

one good earl deserves a lover

Pippa is one smart lady but she lacks knowledge when it comes to more ‘intimate’ things so she enlists the help of brooding, disgraced earl Cross to teach her about sex. Judging by some of the steamy scenes in this novel, I would love to be taught one of Cross’ *ahem* lessons.

7) Callie from Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake

nine rules to break

Another Sarah MacLean heroine I would gladly swap places with, Callie gradually comes out of her shell, daring herself to try new things – and in the process, ensnares the heart of the dashing rake, Ralston.

8) Myrna from the Chief Inspector Gamache series

still life

Myrna is one of my favorite characters in the Chief Inspector Gamache mystery series. A retired psychologist, she runs the bookstore in the cozy village of Three Pines – oh, and she also lives above the store in a loft. Basically, she’s living my ideal life.

9) Yukiko from the Lotus War series

Yukiko pops up on my lists a lot but for good reason – she’s a badass heroine who forms a psychic bond with a mystical thunder tiger. I’d love to have that kind of bond with a fearsome creature – oh, and he also lets her ride on his back while he flies – how awesome would that be!

10) Peter Grant from the Rivers of London series

midnight riot

Peter Grant is one of those characters who is always facing constant peril – but on the flip side, he is also a wizard-in-training. So maybe, I’d only swap places with him when he was about to do some badass magic.

  1. This is a great list. I didn’t write one this week, but Feyre, Hermione and Elizabeth would definitely be on mine! Rhys is my book boyfriend 💗 (lol)
