In the spirit of All Fool’s Day in April, below are my top 5 favorite jokesters/pranksters in fiction:
1) Fred and George Weasley from the Harry Potter series
Fred and George never let anything, not even losing an ear (I’m holey!), get in the way of a good laugh.
2) Peeves the Poltergeist from the Harry Potter series
The only other prankster who could rival the Weasley twins in the HP series was, of course, that lovable poltergeist, Peeves. Thriving on chaos and anarchy, his finest moment came when he wreaked havoc during Umbridge’s short-lived reign as Headmistress in Order of the Phoenix.
3) The Joker
Another jokester that thrives on anarchy and chaos is none other than the Joker aka the Clown Prince of Crime. I’ll never forget his ‘disappearing pencil trick’ from The Dark Knight film.
4) Pennywise the Clown
I mean, what’s more hilarious than a demonic shapeshifting clown who murders children? Hahahahaha!
5) Richie ‘Trashmouth’ Tozier from It
One of the kids to face off against Pennywise (see ‘murderous shape-shifting clown’ above), Richie’s impressions and witty repartee manage to keep the rest of the Loser’s Club from tipping over the edge into insanity. Finn Wolfhard did an amazing job playing Richie in the 2017 film version of It, but I still highly recommend you read the book – there are so many laugh-out-loud Richie moments in there that they didn’t show in the film.
